Complaint guide · Sciatica, leg pain
When the pain
doesn't stay in the lower back.
Sciatica is a travelling pain: through the buttock into the thigh, sometimes down to the foot. Its route is familiar - its trigger differs from person to person.
Sound familiar?
If any of these are part of your everyday life, you are in the right place.
- The pain starts in the lower back and runs down the back of the thigh.
- Worse sitting than standing; long drives are torture.
- Your leg goes numb and tingles, as if ants were running on it.
- Coughing or sneezing makes it stab.
- At night you can hardly find a position that doesn't hurt.
- The first steps still limp, then it eases.
What may be behind it?
The nerve can get pinched at several points along the way.
Sciatic nerve under pressure
Where the lower back meets the pelvis, the nerve's path can narrow - that is why the pain runs down the leg.
Stiff sacroiliac joint
When the joint between the pelvis and the spine moves less freely, it can also cause pain that radiates into the leg.
Tense piriformis
The sciatic nerve runs under a deep gluteal muscle. When it tightens, the symptom mimics something worse.
Long sitting
Sitting presses exactly on the area where the nerve is most sensitive.
We decide what your treatment builds on after the assessment. That is why it is never a template with me.

If the pain comes with fever, is accompanied by numbness or weakness, or started after an accident, please see a doctor first. Treatment complements medical care - it does not replace it.

The method
I never treat sciatica with a single technique.
From the tools of Baronekgyógyír Integrated Therapy (BIT), what the assessment justifies is used: bone-setting, therapeutic massage, reflexology or movement therapy - aimed at the cause of your complaint.
